We were just playing dance music, but because I had been practicing for a few years, I was able to play along with all of the people who were my heroes. I remember [pause]. But some- times I can just close my eyes and let him ride out awhile. I got a phone call from Jon, and I could tell Neal was on the phone, cause I can tell when the line levels down, and I could hear him breathing, I think. It's a situation that you have to grow into. But that can make you perspire too much and you can get cramps from the lack of salt. What was the deal with that? I imagine the band had become a huge business, given all the records youd sold. And so we kept waiting around to see if he was gonna go take care of it. You had millions of fans and sold a ton of records. We were ready to go and rehearse and do the first video, and I was on a ten-day break before we started rehearsals. There was a lot of stuff that we didnt agree on. But he didn't really extend my feelings-he just helped me understand something I wanted to be doing, which was reading music.
